B-Tech National Diplomas in Engineering Apprentices

Our apprentices were sourced via local colleges where they were completing their B-Tech National Diplomas in Engineering. Through attending an Open Day at South Downs College their potential was witnessed in a series of informal discussions and demonstrations. Paul Benfield, Company MD, was delighted to hold a formal interview with the two candidates.

Paul says "I could see straight away that these two young lads were going somewhere and they impressed me with their presentations plus their willingness to learn."

APPRENTICES - YOU'RE HIRED!

August 2011

P & I would like to introduce our new apprentices Toby Faulkner and Toby Tadevossian, both 18, to the organisation and wish them a warm welcome.

The goal was set to invest in the future of local young people and pass on the vast knowledge and experiences of our existing engineers.

A trial period started on 6th June 2011 where a week at a time they were designated to different departments to oversee the workings of the organisation; this included shadowing electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and overall office procedures such as quoting and ordering.

It is with great satisfaction that both Toby Faulkner and Toby Tadevossian completed this trial period on the 15th July and they will now enrol on a 3 year day release course in Advanced Level Apprenticeship Electrical Installation at Highbury College from September.

In the short term they will be attending to designated in-house work or assisting engineers on the road.

The long-term advantages will be that P & I will have two qualified engineers with transferable skills that maintain the high standards of the workforce we are proud to call our own.
